FAMILY REUNION AT NORTHERN’S
(Source: Lebanon Democrat, August 16, 1928)

Four generations of the Northern families assembled at a reunion at the home of Thomas Y. Northern on the Coles Ferry pike here Thursday. More than one hundred and thirty persons from this and adjoining states, all direct descendants of the early Northerns, pioneer Wilson county family, assembled at the ancestral home, and enjoyed the all day reunion and dinner on the grounds.
The family of Beryl Northern of Nashville, which included four generations, was present. Visitors from Kentucky and Alabama and several cities in Tennessee were also present.  The Program for the day had been worked out in a delightful fashion and was featured by a basket dinner and barbecue on the ground at noon.

Thomas Y. Northern, the forefather, came to Tennessee from Virginia about 1830. He was married to Polona Jane Smith of Wilson county in 1842, and they lived in Davidson county until 1879, coming from there to Wilson county and living there until their death. Of their thirteen children only four now survive, B.S. Northern of Nashville; T. D. Northern of Lebanon; B. T. Northern of Lebanon and Mrs. Obe Arrington of Greenwood, all of whom were present.

About one hundred of the relatives drove from Alabama, Kentucky, and surrounding counties of Tennessee to be present. A large number of relatives were unable to attend. Fifty or more of their old friends and neighbors were also present.

Those of the family present were: Mr. and Mrs. B. S. Northern; Mr. and Mrs. T. Y. Northern and children, Joe, Anna Mae, Mildred, and Peyton; Mr. and Mrs. T. B.
